Y-yeah. [ it’s almost a sigh, because it is better.
humiliating as fuck being covered in someone else’s sticky, rapidly
cooling jizz, but the beta part of him purrs happily and would kinda
definitely be interested in shiro rubbing all of it into lance’s skin and
then maybe marching him out in front of the others, especially keith, so
that they could all smell that lance had been claimed by the alpha that all
of them secretly wanted or envied--
okay, okay no, his hindbrain is terrifying and he mentally shakes
himself, striving for some semblance of rational thought. he’s just helping
shiro here, he’s not-- building a pack or starting a family, and it’s
stupid to get attached to an alpha like this when the right omega could
still walk by at literally any moment and sweep shiro into a mating bond.
betas didn’t bond, they attended, either tagging along after a
particular alpha or omega as they went through relationships or being drawn
in by an established couple. betas could and did pair up, of course, as
did alphas and betas or omegas and betas or same designation pairings, but
there was always the lingering sense that those sorts of pairings weren’t
stable, and plenty of people viewed them as unnatural or immature. younger
betas flocked together as kids or shyly coalesced around confident alphas
or charismatic omegas among neighbors and relatives, and then eventually
grew into more mature pack dynamics once they got into school and started
socializing with more people. lance’s particular beta standoffish-ness
had, according to various school counselors, been chalked up to his
attachment to his family, refusing to let go of his bonds with them in
favor of joining an independent pack. he’d never wanted to and he’d
resented the implication that one day he would just… fall in with a group
of people and care intensely about them because maybe an alpha sniffed him
once, or an omega sat next to him during mess hall. everybody knew that
it was easy to win over betas. everybody knew that they were natural
followers, you didn’t even have to be particularly nice to them and they’d
still fall all over themselves for the slightest bit of attention. they
didn’t challenge alphas and they didn’t compete with omegas.
of course it’s that particular fact that allows him to be here right
now, helping shiro, so maybe he shouldn’t be too hard on his nature. if
he’d been an alpha or an omega he could’ve easily rubbed shiro’s altered
instincts the wrong way (and maybe that was the point? maybe the galra had
done this on purpose to ruin their ability to work as a team?) and made the
situation worse, but betas were supposed to be steady, calming, supportive
influences.
the praise has him whimpering despite himself, some greedy awful
little part of him hoarding every single word away so he can obsess over it
later. shiro pleased with him. shiro happy and attentive and ready to
take what lance is offering, even though he’s young and inexperienced and,
let’s be real, has very little to recommend him as a good addition to a
pack. greed wins out over his embarrassment as he rocks his hips back
against shiro’s dick like he’s trying to catch it, feeling the hot metal at
the tip dragging over his skin. he’s ready, he’s so ready, he doesn’t even
think to mention that he’s never done this before in case it makes shiro
decide to stop. ]
I can be better for you, [ he promises, want clear in his
tone. ] Let me-- please let me, I’ll be so good for you, just put
it in, please…
